A community based approach

Bay Area Somatic Therapy Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to somatic and trauma‑informed mental health care for adults experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, relational challenges, major life transitions, and trauma, including complex PTSD.

We believe healing happens not only through insight, but through the body, relationships, and nervous system safety. Our work supports people in developing greater regulation, resilience, connection, and empowerment while feeling more at home in themselves.

A clinic and training center for somatic psychology:

In addition to providing therapy services, our center serves as a training and professional development site for clinicians who hold master's or doctorate degrees in somatic psychology. Our training programs place special emphasis on somatic group work methodologies. We're committed to strengthening ethical standards and expanding access to high‑quality somatic care in the Bay Area and beyond.

Common questions

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to psychotherapy that supports healing through awareness of sensation, nervous system patterns, and the ways emotions live in the body. It can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, shame, and chronic stress, particularly when talk therapy alone hasn’t felt like enough.

Ready to begin?

The next step is a brief consultation to explore fit, answer questions, and get a sense of what support may feel most helpful.
